The name "Windflowers" is borrowed from John William Waterhouse's romantic painting of 1903 showing a young girl in a beautiful windswept landscape of flower covered meadows. It symbolises the natural and wild beauty of the landscape surrounding the accommodation.

Only ten minutes drive from Cygnet and accessed by a private road, Windflowers Cottage offers the charms of seclusion.
However if assistance is required the owners, who live in separate residence "Wit's End" elsewhere on the 28 acre property are on call.

A rural retreat
Windflowers Farm is accessed by a private road and comprises 28 acres of gently undulating pasture, forest, Protea plantation and Olive groves. The self-contained holiday rental is set in well maintained gardens that are yours to enjoy.
Our Highland Cattle
This hardy and ancient breed is well suited to Tasmania's climate and is not uncommon around Cygnet and the Huon Valley.
Our wildlife
Tasmania's native birdlife is abundant and wildlife includes Wallabies, Pademelon, Bandicoots, Wedge-Tailed Eagles and Quolls.

Bed and Breakfast. We supply cereals, fruit, eggs, bacon, bread, milk, juice, butter, spreads and jam, coffee, tea, cheese, crackers etc. The accomodation is however self-catering and you will need to shop for main meals. Great shopping and cafes are a short drive at the beautiful town of Cygnet or the regional hub of Huonville.

Pets are allowed and very welcome. The holiday rental is situated in over an acre of securely fenced lawns and gardens.
Our conditions are:
1. We are notified.
2. The pets are house trained,
3. The pets will be well supervised.

"our" Wedge-tailed Eagles
Magnificent Tasmanian Wedge-tailed eagles nest nearby and are frequently observed around Cygnet . They are bigger and darker than their mainland relatives. Yearly the smaller male is seen hunting alone, then the pair can be seen "training" a juvenile who stays till the next breeding season approaches.

The Tasmanian Wedge Tail is an endemic sub-species and is included in the Federal list as an endangered subspecies. There are only ~ 400 recorded nesting sites in Tasmania. They predate on rabbits, wallaby and sick lambs. Scavenging on roadkill helps the population but cars, wind turbines and vandals place them at risk.

Our Proteas plantation is fully enclosed and is a great walk for guests and pets.
"Seven Inch Beach" is only a short walk from the accommodation for a swim in the Huon River.
